Getting your card(s) turbo-vandalized. ...I mean...
steveargyle: I’ve had a mighty, throbbing deluge of email queries about how one might procure themselves the curiously random binder-jem of a genuine Steve Argyle card alteration.  Up until this point, one would have had to meet me at an event, physically hand me a card, and pray to Chibi-Odin that the fickle winds of my decision gland favored heaping more work on top of a schedule already...

Tumblr's Support Problem with 'Missing e'
missing-e: As many users have observed, Tumblr has recently given users a choice to uninstall Missing e or revoke support for your account. The reasons they give for suggesting that you uninstall Missing e are the worst-case scenario for installing browser extensions or browser modifications of any kind. However, Missing e is not a source of these kinds of problems. At worst, Missing e may...

That moment when Tezzeret is in full etherium...
Test of Metal is really one of the more complex, yet well paced books in the Planeswalker Novel series. The character Doctor Jest really makes the comedy relief come alive and is an excellent foil to the newly reconstructed Tezzeret. Add Clockworking (ie: Earth’s equalivant of Many-worlds interpretation/Schrödinger’s cat) and multiple perspectives that just make sense, and you have...

Magic the Gathering Things: Greetings fellow... →
mtgthings: The queue has been going on for a while, but let me be the first to personally welcome you to MTGthings! Onto the FAQs! :D What is this blog about? In the simplest possible explanation, it’s a blog about Magic: the Gathering that focuses on the feelings you get while playing and the personal experiences you might want to share. This will also be a place to discuss and talk about...

sageoflogic replied to your post: fuckmonogreenelves replied to your post: I was… Well that would be why you’re running Ghost Quarter in a control deck though right? You’d still be able to counter the Titan. Did you read all of Ghost Quarter? It doesn’t drop them a land. They get to search for a basic and you are short a land. And in control, you need every land you can get so you...

fuckmonogreenelves replied to your post: I was just looking into Ghost Quarter for a “proper use” and there appears to not be a general consensus. So, turning to you. How should Ghost Quarter be used? What decks would benefit from losing 2 lands? Kessig, Inkmoth, Gavony, Moorland Haunt, duals… Ghost Quarter is good, and is actually an auto-include 4-of in land-go control decks. Does a great job...

sageoflogic asked: I'd suggest anyone playing in a meta where one strategy is dominant make decks purely based around countering that strategy. If that strategy loses enough people will change. My play group had a LOT of annoying life-gain. So I made a turn 3 unblockable green/blue infect deck with blighted agents, titanic growths, and ranger's guiles. Now only one person runs life gain and he does it...

bigniginabigrig replied to your post: bigniginabigrig replied to your post: is it true?… i know that but if their not spells how could they have a mana cost. not trying to be a douche about this im just confused. but thanks for answering the main question lol It is in the rules: 202.3. The converted mana cost of an object is a number equal to the total amount of mana in its mana cost,...

magnathewillford replied to your post: magnathewillford replied to your post: Commentary… If counterspell’s had never been created, the way we play would be different, but not essentially worse. When you see annoying net control decks at every FNM you attend, it is a lot less fun to see. It’s puts me off every week when I can’t do things. We can only speculate. Try finding a different...

bigniginabigrig replied to your post: is it true? Sun titan can bring lands back from the grave yard? well if they had a mana cost of zero, couldn’t they be counterd? Lands are not cast, they are played, so therefore they can’t be countered. Playing a land does not use the stack and no player can respond to it.

magnathewillford replied to your post: Commentary - Why Blue Players are Proactive Rather than Reactive More people would enjoy this game if counter magic didn’t exist. “More” is really a hard number there. But I think if we looked at a net gain/loss, I think the game would lose more players. The game becomes about who can build the better aggro/combo deck. You know why some games,...

Commentary - Why Blue Players are Proactive Rather...
Clarification on Counterspells in general: Blue mages are looking for something to not resolve, and would rather fizz the spell than see it enter the battlefield or take effect. Imagine a world in which there were no Counterspells. Every creature with “When ~ enters the battlefield, do <something>,” would immediately be better. Blue mages have plans. They, traditionally, are the...

apetisdave: Seriously considering a Planeswalker symbol tatoo…  My reasoning: It’s a really cool looking symbol, and I dig the vertical symmetry Even though I haven’t been playing for a year, I feel that it’s going to be in my life for the long haul.  Awesome game. Game play has slight psychological demand. Deck building is a bit more challenging than game play but so worth it.  Awesome...

topher2323 asked: So, ruling question, Rings of Brighthearth can double an Activated Ability if it's controller pays 3 Mana. Riku of Two Reflections has a triggered ability that also has a cost you need to pay to activate it. So I'm wondering if it is considered an Activated Ability that can be doubled with Rings of Brighthearth?

Wizards - Revision to IPG After Players' Feedback →
Hi all, Some among you may have noticed that the January 2012 version of the IPG has been removed from the rules section of our website. The changes to that document have been met with a lot of scrutiny and confusion over the last few days, and rightly so. While we work on a new version of that document, the October 2011 version will remain in effect. We hope to have the new version up before...
