Q:This rule seems pretty silly. So I am on 3 life but I have a 13/13 Predator Ooze. My opponent has a 2/1 creature. He uses Vault of the Archangel to give it lifelink/deathtouch and Kessig Wolf Run to give it trample (2-headed giant game). He only has to deal 1 damage to my Predator Ooze and the rest gets through with trample? That sounds a bit ridiculous to me but I think the rules say that?
Yup, the rules do say that. Trample says “If you deal lethal combat damage to the blocking creature, I can trample the defending player for the rest.” Deathtouch says “Any damage I deal is lethal damage.”
Therefore, the Trample 2/1 can assign 1 damage to the 13 toughness Ooze (lethal because it is deathtouch), and 1 trample damage to you.

Yes, even if it’s indestructible. The lethal damage assigned doesn’t actually have to lead to the creature going to the graveyard to be recognized as lethal damage.

Even when Predator Ooze is indestructible? How does the ruling work in that case?

But it’s an indestructible creature so shouldn’t the damage not be lethal? *I’m not the anon*
