Q:So could you have a permanent that taps to add one snow mana to your mana pool?
It would have to have “Snow” in its type:
205.4f Any permanent with the supertype “snow” is a snow permanent. Any permanent that doesn’t have this supertype is a nonsnow permanent, regardless of its name.
I *think* something like Boreal Druid produces Snow Mana, along with Coldsteel Heart (definitely) for non-land Snow permanents.

Yes, you’re right. That was the entire point of those cards, to give you another way to produce snow mana in limited.
