My Holiday Giveaway

First off, I’d like to wish warm and happy holidays to all of my followers. I trust the colder months are treating you all well, and hopefully the hectic atmosphere this time of year brings isn’t too stressful.

With Gatecrash imminent, I’ll be getting back into the swing of things with a fresh FNM Budget Challenge, though, this time around with a slightly higher ceiling and a more exciting hook. I want you guys to choose the guild we champion. I’ll start a poll on January 1st, giving you all 10 guilds to choose from. After a week, the top 5 guilds will be voted on again. On January 15th, I’ll narrow it down to just 2 guilds. Whichever guild has the most votes on the day of the Gatecrash release (February 1st) will determine our deck, our theme, and our cause.

Now that I’ve talked business, let’s get down to the fun stuff. This is a different giveaway because it comes during a special time of year. I want to make the guidelines simple, but with a prize that each and every participant can get excited about. I was actually inspired by a previous giveaway winner, Jermtube. Instead of me choosing the prize, I’m going to let the winner decide. Whichever lucky follower wins this giveaway will need to send me their Magic: the Gathering wishlist in an ask (make them thorough), and I’ll ship you something straight off your most wanted list (within reason. no power 9, lol).

The rules are simple:

  1. Follow my blog.
  2. Reblog and like this post.
  3. Upon winning, send me your MTG wishlist.
  4. **ADDED BONUS** for every 25 reblogs this post gets, there will be an additional winner.

Drafting 101

Much like the Pirate’s Code, these are not rules, but guidelines. Keeping these points in mind should help you draft more consistent decks.

1.     Always play 40 cards exactly. This is the only point that should actually be taken as a rule. Play your best 22-24 spells, and have the rest of the 40 be land. If you follow this strategy, each card past 40 is worse than those already in your deck, so by adding cards you are simply making your deck worse.

MTG GIVEAWAY!

I’ve decided to start thinning out my collection of Magic cards for the betterment of the community. What does this mean, exactly? Well, over the next few weeks, I’m going to be giving away boxes of cards. Nothing special, mostly standard commons and uncommons, but to new players/smaller collections, a fortuitous free collection is like the water in ‘Tron’. It energizes you. You feel powerful. You start to shake your fists at the sky and laugh uncontrollably like a maniacal scientist about to complete a horrific experiment. Well, maybe not, but who doesn’t love free stuff?

Included in the MTG Care Package will be:

  • a 20-sided spin down dice
  • 100 basic lands (20 of each)
  • 250 commons/uncommons (45 of each color, 25 artifacts)
  • an FNM Hero altered Zombie, Human, Spirit, Wolf, or Soldier Token (chosen by the winner)


The giveaway guidelines are simple. To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be following FNMHero
  2. Like/Reblog this.
  3. Be awesome. (Let’s face it, most of you have this in spades)
  4. Play Magic: the Gathering. (this kind of rolls into #3)
  5. Give the cards a good home.

All qualifying tumblrites will be put onto a list (updated regularly) and winners will be determined via Random.org. If you are one of the lucky winrars, I’ll send you an ask requesting mailing information. If 48 hours pass without a response, we’ll roll the bones again and a new winner will be chosen.

I appreciate everyone’s support during my FNM Challenge project thus far, and it’s really nice to hear feedback, so keep sending away. I’m also working on ‘30 Days of Magic’ (which is turning out to be a blast!) and ‘My Weekly Deck Tech’ where followers can submit their current deck/allowable budget so that I can streamline and improve it from there.

MTG GIVEAWAY + Blog updates!

I recently assessed my bulk commons/uncommons collection spanning from Alara to Avacyn Restored, and I have roughly 45,000 cards I have absolutely no use for. Thus, I’ve decided to start giving away Magic cards in the form of new player care packages or pre-built decks. What do you guys think? I’m open to suggestions, requests, etc. It will probably just end up being a ‘follow me/like this’ random giveaway, but considering the amount of bulk I have, there will probably be a lot of winners.

The FNM Challenge is heating up (this weeks report will have quite a surprise in it, so keep your eyes open), the 30 Days of Magic is trucking along, and I’ve recently published the first Weekly Deck Tech!
