A while ago (2+ years), I was the judge of a contest asking players to re-invent a classic card: Draco. He was always a cool 5-color-but-not-5-color artifact dragon, and when I was a kid I loved his card, bad as it was. I wanted players to re-invent the beast for the modern era. I got a lot of 5-color/phyrexian mana submissions, people not realizing he’s actually a Dominarian construct. The winner was one that captured wonderful flavour, memory nightmare aside: a dragon filled with mana literally brimming with light and scouring his enemies with it.
My pitch was as follows:
Draco is one of my favorite old cards. A dragon of legendary power but not strictly a legend- one that requires almost unprecedented energy to run, unless you utilize magical mana, the more schools you use, the better. Draco was origionally known for his mana cost (16- still the most mana prohibitive in the game) and being one of the few artifacts that was -really- a 5 color permanent without saying it was or having a colored mana symbol anywhere on the card. He’s not too impressive by modern standards, but he was a decent powerhouse back when he was printed. in the right deck, he’s a 9/9 flying for 6. Nothing to laugh at, but still oddly vanilla.
SO, ladies and gentlemen, this is what I’m looking for. Draco. An artifact dragon, be he organic or construct by nature, you decide. He has to interact with all 5 colors of mana, but in a creative way. Not strictly including the mana symbols is a plus. WotC has problems making creative dragons, too, so let’s showcase the flavour, the back-story, of this hero of the Phyrexian Invasion!
This is my final photoshop, since I felt like making another!
Q:Nice to know (for you and the Question Marks): Ugin means cookies in ancient Hebrew.
Had a great time at FNM, which included the most ridiculous game ever, as seen above.
Christian had some horrifically bumped stuff, ultimated Nissan and Keora, so every basic land was a 4/4 elemental…and had nothing but an Orzhov Guildgate.
Somehow managed to win the round though.
Played a bunch of EDH at the shop today, as Liam was unable to make the Dark Heresy set up session.
Came second twice and managed to fling 35 or so zombies at Sarah, killing her, which was a lot of fun.
Today’s EDH action means I will be trying to get my gaming week Sebious Speaks done tomorrow.
Been an epic weekend of Magic and I can’t wait for pre-release next weekend and the starting of EDH league the week after that.
Oh and the last picture is me being horrified about the boxes of comics near the drippy wall.

A new sketch for you all! I absolutely adore the design for the B/G god Pharika, the God of Affliction (and yet to be previewed!). She’s the Greek-inspired god of potions, healing, and poison, and represents the duality of toxicity and cleansing.
In terms of etymology, “Pharika” comes from the Greek "pharmakon,” which is taken to mean both “poison” and “medicine”, and is the patron god of Gorgons (because there’s more than just the one in Greek myth, guys! »;)
