My Holiday Giveaway
First off, I’d like to wish warm and happy holidays to all of my followers. I trust the colder months are treating you all well, and hopefully the hectic atmosphere this time of year brings isn’t too stressful.
With Gatecrash imminent, I’ll be getting back into the swing of things with a fresh FNM Budget Challenge, though, this time around with a slightly higher ceiling and a more exciting hook. I want you guys to choose the guild we champion. I’ll start a poll on January 1st, giving you all 10 guilds to choose from. After a week, the top 5 guilds will be voted on again. On January 15th, I’ll narrow it down to just 2 guilds. Whichever guild has the most votes on the day of the Gatecrash release (February 1st) will determine our deck, our theme, and our cause.
Now that I’ve talked business, let’s get down to the fun stuff. This is a different giveaway because it comes during a special time of year. I want to make the guidelines simple, but with a prize that each and every participant can get excited about. I was actually inspired by a previous giveaway winner, Jermtube. Instead of me choosing the prize, I’m going to let the winner decide. Whichever lucky follower wins this giveaway will need to send me their Magic: the Gathering wishlist in an ask (make them thorough), and I’ll ship you something straight off your most wanted list (within reason. no power 9, lol).
The rules are simple:
- Follow my blog.
- Reblog and like this post.
- Upon winning, send me your MTG wishlist.
- **ADDED BONUS** for every 25 reblogs this post gets, there will be an additional winner.
Nothing fancy, nothing difficult. As always, I love you guys, thanks for sticking with me, and get ready for Gatecrash. Happy Holidays!
Magic Online Wide Beta Update
Hello everyone. The Magic Online Wide Beta has been up and running for more than three weeks now (if you haven’t heard about the Wide Beta, read Ryan Spain’s articlefrom September 4) and I just wanted to give you all an update on our development progress and what is in store for the next few weeks. Before we get into the update, however, I want to thank all of you who have downloaded the Magic Online Wide Beta and shared your thoughts with us, whether it has been on Twitter, on the forums, or through the new feedback form. This interaction is critical as we work to deliver the best possible Magic Online experience possible.
Even with all the input we have received, however, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for players to continue to check out our progress and tell us how we are doing. We have received a lot of feedback, both positive and negative, and we have already used it to adjust design and development priorities, whether through validating design decisions or identifying problem areas that need immediate attention. As we make additional changes or add new features, this discussion with our players becomes even more important.
If this effort is going to be collaborative, however, we need to make sure that we share information as well, so players can stay up to date on what is happening with the Wide Beta. So without further ado…

New Magic the Gathering: Online Avatars
From the Mothership:
The Cube format is coming to Magic Online! Here’s what you need to know.
“Cube” is a format where players draft from a pool of cards that’s specially chosen to be awesome to draft. In this case, Tom LaPille designed a cube of 720 cards and Max McCall developed it, so you’ll have the opportunity to draft and play with some of the most powerful cards from across the history of Magic.
The Cube is going to be a limited-time event on Magic Online. Initially, it will be playable over the weekend of PAX East (April 6-8, 2012), and the inaugural event kicking this off will take place at PAX East, exclusive for that event’s attendees!
This is pretty awesome. Phantom drafts are cheap to play, and there’s nothing more fun than Cube drafts. If I had a PC, I would sign up for MTGO just for this. This had been speculated for a while, and now that it’s official I’m sure there are going to be some very happy MTGO players.
