Did you know that Time Walk, one of the famous Power Nine and the most effective spell to grant an extra turn to a player, originally had the text “Target player loses next turn,”?
Richard Garfield, creator of the collectible card game Magic the Gathering, said that during testing that a player told him that he had a card that would guarantee him a victory on the second card. Since Garfield couldn’t name the card that would have given such a quick win, he asked what that card was. It was Time walk with it’s original text of “Target player loses next turn,” which pointed out the alternative use of the word “loses.” Before the game was released, the text was changed to the “Take an extra turn after this one,” that we all know and love.
